Students inducted into social work honor society at William Woods University
William Woods University inducted eight students into Phi Alpha social work honor society during the 2015-16 academic year. Phi Alpha offers membership to junior and senior social work majors with an overall GPA of 3.4 and a GPA of 3.7 in social work courses. Members must exemplify the ethical and professional values, attitudes and conduct expected of members of the social work profession.

William Woods University graduates 836
William Woods University conferred 836 degrees during commencement exercises May 7. Landscape artist William Cather Hook spoke at the undergraduate ceremony in the morning and Marty Martin-Forman, recently retired chief operating officer of Fulton State Hospital and a past president of the Fulton Area Chamber of Commerce and Visitor's Center, addressed graduate students in the afternoon.

Seven students are the new leaders of the Student Alumni Council at William Woods University. Officers of SAC at are responsible for planning and organizing events that help students and alumni interact, as well as help students make the transition from student to alumnus. The council is also responsible for raising school spirit and community awareness of William Woods.

Rotaract club chartered at William Woods University
A new service organization has been chartered at William Woods University. Rotaract, an affiliate of Rotary International, received its charter April 20 from Steve Dulle, governor of Rotary District 6080. Twenty five students are members of the club, which was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Fulton.

William Woods University has designated 19 students as 2016 Distinguished Scholars. William Woods University faculty of various disciplines have the opportunity each spring to designate one graduating senior as a Distinguished Scholar. A minimum grade-point average of 3.4 is required, but the faculty may consider other relevant academic factors and variables in the selection process.

William Woods University students recently won second place in three categories at the regional Collegiate DECA competition. They also placed third in two categories and fifth in another.
